I learnt this recipe from a TV show.But it was done with Turkey Berry (Sundakkai).I tried it out with American Brinjal and of course it was delicious
Ingredients
Big Brinjal - 1 or Small Brinjals - 1/4 kg
Tomatoes - 2 or more
Green Chilly - 2 or more
Curry Powder or Chilly Powder - 2 teaspoons (Use chilly powder if you want it to be more spicy)
Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoons or requird
Boiled and Mashed Toor Dhall - 1/2 cup
Seasoning
Oil - 1 teaspoon
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Hing - pinch
Method:
1. Boil toor dhall in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles
2. In a cooker add the boiled dhall, brinjal, tomatoes, green chilly, curry or chilly powder, turmeric and salt.Mix with little water.Close the lid and leave it for 3 whistles
3. Now churn the mixture using a churner (mathu).It will be a uniform mass
4. Season with the given ingredients and churn it once more
5. Mix with hot rice with a spoon of ghee
