Chow Chow Thogayal

Instead of making chow chow sambar or the usual curry or kootu you can try this different recipe. Its very simple and can be given to people who hates chow chow as its original taste would be hidden in this dish

Ingredients

Chow Chow -1 (cut into small cubes)
Oil - 2 teaspoons
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Urad Dhall - 1 ladle
Red Chillies - 3 or more
Tamrind - small ball (size of a marble)
Salt - As required
Coconut Scrapings - 2 tablespoons (optional)
Water - for grinding

Method

1. Pressure cook chow for 1 whistle and drain the water in a cup (it can be used while grinding so do not  discard the water)

2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
3. When it splutters add hing, red chillies and urad dall.Fry it till golden brown

4. Now slightly fry tamarind ball just for a second

5. First grind these above fried items with little water (using which chow chow was boiled).Add coconut scrapings and run the mixer once more.Keep this aside
6. Grind the boiled chow chow (without adding water) separately
7. Now grind together both the items (step 5 and 6). Finally add salt and mix well
8. Chow Chow Thogayal is ready.
