- Besan flour / Kadalai maavu - 1 cup
- Rice flour - 1/4 cup
- Ajwain / Omam powder - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Oil - deep frying
- Heat oil in a deep bottomed kadai
- Meanwhile take all the mentioned ingredients in a bowl and mix well with hands
- Add water little by little and make a sticky dough
- Fit the ompodi achu in the squeezing machine / kuzhal ie the one with small round hoes.See the pic
- Grease the inner portion of squeezing machine / kuzhal
- Fill it dough and press it / squeeze it in a circular motion into the hot oil
- Allow the bubbles to subside and flip it over the other side
- Take it out after 2 minutes
- Drain it under a colander
- Once cooled crush the omapodi into small pieces and store it in an airtight container
