Puffed Poori / Puri

Iam sure all of us like poori especially puffed poori. This is a basic poori recipe which works out for me.Iam sure it will help out beginners

Ingredients
  • Wheat flour - 3 1/2 cups + little for dusting
  • Rava - 1 cup
  • Oil - required for frying + little for kneading
  • Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Water - required for kneading
Method
Step 1 - Dough Preparation
  • Take wheat flour, rava, salt in a wide bowl / broad basin.Mix well with hands
  • Heat around 5 tablespoons of oil and add it to the flour.Mix with fork
  • Sprinkle water little by little and knead it to a smooth dough.Cover it with a wet cloth and leave it for 15 minutes
Step 2 - Poori / Puri
  • Heat oil in a kadai
  • Meanwhile pinch out small balls from dough
  • Roll out each and every ball into a small circle of medium thickness. You may use a round shaped lid for a perfect shape
  • Now to check whether the oil is properly heated or not drop a small pinch of ball in it.It should float and come up to the surface. This a test check. You can skip this step
  • Carefully drop in the rolled poori into the oil.You will notice that it will puff up.Sprinkle oil with the ladle over the poori
  • Fry on the other side also
  • Once done take it out and place it under a colander to drain excess oil
  • This poori will remain puffed up till you touch with fingers
