Oats Dalia Upma

Very healthy and tasty breakfast

I got this recipe from a oats packet but instead of Rava/ Sooji I used Dalia / Wheat Rava and added vegetables to it.


Ingredients
Part 1
Dry Roast
  • Oats - 1 cup
  • Dalia / Samba Wheat / Wheat Rava - 1/2 cup
Part 2
Splutter
  • Oil - 2 teaspoons
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Urad dhall - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Channa dhal - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Hing, Curry leaves - little
  • Turmeric - a pinch
Part 3
Saute
  • Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato - 1 (finely chopped)
  • Green chillies - 3 (slited)
Part 4
Vegetables
  • Capsicum, Carrot , Potato (finely chopped) and Beans (cut lengthwise) - 1 cup together
  • Frozen Peas - handful
Part 5
Topping
  • Chopped coriander leaves - few
Salt - as needed
Water - 1 1/2 cups

Method
Step 1
  • Separately dry roast dalia and oats.Keep it aside (Oats should be just hot to touch)
Step 2
  • In a kadai heat oil and splutter mustard followed by urad and channa dhals
  • Add curry leaves, hing and turmeric
Step 3
  • Saute onions first and then the tomatoes
  • Add a pinch of salt at this stage to fry onions and tomatoes well.You may close the kadai with a lid for 2 minutes
Step 4
  • Put finely chopped capsicum(s) and fry for a while
  • Add diced potato cubes, carrot and beans (cut lengthwise). Put peas into it and sprinkle little water
  • Close the kadai and cook till it is 3/4-th done by sprinkling water now and then and swirling it with the laddle
Step 5
  • Pour water, add salt and allow it to boil
  • You may put coriander leaves in the boiling water
Step 6
  • Simmer the flame and slowly add dalia to the boiled water
  • Stir it continuously and cook till it is half done
Step 7
  • Now add oats, cover and cook till done
  • Finally garnish with coriander leaves

Oats Dalia Upma is ready and serve it with chutney/curd/pickle
