கத்திரிகாய் / Brinjal Gothsu

Its another version which includes incorporation of toor dhal in it.It goes well with Plain Dosa / Ven Pongal


Ingredients
  • Brinjal - 2 big sized or 4 medium sized
  • Toor dhal - 1/4 cup
  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green Chilly - 4 nos (slit)
  • Ginger - small piece
  • Hing - little
  • Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Coriander leaves - few
  • Lemon - 1

Method
  • Roast brinjals directly into open flame.Turn on all the sides while doing so
  • After sometime the skin will start coming out on its own.Switch off the stove at this point
  • Allow it to cool and peel off the skin.Mash it or run it in a mixer using wiper button
  • Now add it to the boiled toor dhal.Put salt and hing.Blend them well
  • In a separate kadai heat oil and temper with mustard seeds, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves
  • Add mashed brinjal- toor dhal mixture.Boil it once
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the stove
  • Squeeze lemon and mix well
Kathrikai / Brinjal Gothsu is ready
