Ingredients
- Ridge Gourd - 2 cups (roughly chopped)
- Onion - 1 no: (roughly chopped)
- Green chilly - 1 or 2
- Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
- Urad dhal - 1 tablespoon
- Channa dhal - 1 tablespoon
- Tamarind - little or Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Hing - little
- Salt - as needed
Method
- Heat oil in a pan.Fry dhals in it till it becomes golden brown and keep it aside
- In the same pan saute onions with salt, green chillies, hing and tamarind (if using).Take it out and keep it aside
- Saute ridge gourd till it becomes soft.Add salt while doing so
- Cool it and grind it along with fried dhals, onions, chillies and coriander leaves
- Take it out and squeeze lemon (if not using tamarind) and mix well
- Peerkangai Thogayal is ready. You can simply mix with plain rice or serve along with idly and Plain Dosa
