Ridge Gourd Thogayal / Peerkangai Thogayal

Ingredients
  • Ridge Gourd - 2 cups (roughly chopped)
  • Onion - 1 no: (roughly chopped)
  • Green chilly - 1 or 2
  • Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Urad dhal - 1 tablespoon
  • Channa dhal - 1 tablespoon
  • Tamarind - little or Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Hing - little
  • Salt - as needed
Method
  • Heat oil in a pan.Fry dhals in it till it becomes golden brown and keep it aside

  • In the same pan saute onions with salt, green chillies, hing and tamarind (if using).Take it out and keep it aside
  • Saute ridge gourd till it becomes soft.Add salt while doing so
  • Cool it and grind it along with fried dhals, onions, chillies and coriander leaves
  • Take it out and squeeze lemon (if not using tamarind) and mix well
  • Peerkangai Thogayal is ready. You can simply mix with plain rice or serve along with idly and Plain Dosa
