Yet another recipe for weight conscious individuals and diabetic people

Step 1- Dry roasting

- Barley Dalia - 1 cup
The grains will look like this
- Moong Dhal - 1/4 cup
- Water - 4 1/2 cups
- Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoons
- Ghee - 2 teaspoons
- Ginger - little (grated)
- Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Jeera - 1/2 teaspoon (Alternatively pepper and jeera can be coarsely broken and used)
- Curry leaves - few (nicely chopped)
Step 1- Dry roasting
- Dry roast barley and moong dhal separately.Do it n low flame.
- Barley will be slightly brown.Switch off the stove at that point
- Moong dhal will emit nice aroma
- Take the above roasted items together and pour water.Place it in a pressure cooker
- When the steam is released through the vent, open the lid and add salt.Mix well
- Close the lid and place the weight.Wait for 5 whistles and switch off the stove
- Once the pressure comes down open the lid
- In a separate kadai or iron ladle melt ghee
- Sprinkle hing and put curry leaves and grated ginger
- Switch off the stove and add jeera and pepper (or coarsely ground powder)
- After 2 minutes pour it over the cooked pongal and mix well
