வாழைக்காய் பொடிமாஸ் / Raw Banana Podimas

The method of preparation of Vaazhaikai Podimas is different from the usual Vaazhaikai Curry


Ingredients
  • Raw Banana - 5 nos
  • Salt - 3/4 teaspoon
  • Turmeric - little
Tadka
  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Grated ginger - little
  • Channa dhal - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - little
  • Green chilly - 2 or 3 nos (slit)
Topping
  • Coriander - little (optional)
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
Method
  • Apply oil on raw bananas and roast them on all sides in an open flame.Be very carefully while doing this
  • The banana skin will be charred and start coming out on its own.Switch off the stove at this point
  •  Allow them to cool and take off the skin
  • Smash them.Put salt and turmeric and mash them well with your fingers
  • In a pan heat oil and splutter mustard seeds
  • Saute grated ginger and roast channa dhal
  • Put curry leaves and slit green chillies
  • Add the mashed raw banana mixture
  • Swirl it once and switch off the stove
  • Squeeze lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves if desired
Vaazhaikai Podimas is ready.Serve it with Sambar / Rasam rice
