Nei Appam is offered to Lord Ganesha on "Vinayakar Chaturthi Day"
Ingredients
- Wheat flour - 1 cup
- Rice flour - 1/2 cup
- Thick coconut milk - 3/4 cup
- Jaggery - 3/4 cup
- Banana - 1
- Elachi powder - a pinch
- Ghee - as needed
- Take jaggery in a thick kadai and pour 1/4 cup of water
- Heat the kadai and allow the jaggery to dissolve in water.Switch off the stove and filter the jaggery water to discard the impurities
- In a mixing bowl add mashed banana, wheat flour and rice flour
- Pour jaggery extract and coconut milk.Add a pinch of elachi powder and mix well to form a thick batter like dosa
- Leave it for half an hour
- Heat a paniyaram mold over the gas stove.Drop 2 teaspoons of ghee in each and every mould
- Carefully pour the appam batter using a small ladle
- After 2 minutes you will notice small bubbles appearing.Carefully flip it on to the other side and our 1 more teaspoon of ghee again in each and every mold
- Cook for another 1 minute in low flame
- Ensure to fry them dark
- You may directly fry it in oil also
