Thinnai Arisi Maavu Akki Roti

I have already explained "Akki Roti" using "Rice Flour" in this link. The method is same only but using "Thinnai Maavu / Foxtail Millet Flour" will enhance health benefits
Again as I always say use "butter" while making it to"kids".On the contrary use little "refined oil" for "weight watchers"

Ingredients
  • Thinnai Maavu - 2 cups
  • Onion - 2 nos (finely chopped)
  • Carrot - 2 nos (grated)
  • Capsicum -1 (finely chopped)
  • Green chilly - 4 or more (cut into small pieces)
  • Curry lraves - little
  • Coriander leaves - little
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon or little more
  • Water - little (for kneading)
  • Oil / Ghee - for kneading
  • Oil / Butter - cooking
Method
  • In a mixing bowl first put onions, carrot, capsicum, chillies, coriander leaves and salt
  • Then add thinnai maavu .Roughly mix with your fingers
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon of oil / melted ghee and mix well
  • Sprinkle water little and little and knead it to a smooth dough

  • Smear your palm with oil and pinch out 4 medium sized balls
  • Take one ball at a time and spread it along the walls of a kadi using your fingers. Now turn on the stove

  • Put 1 teaspoon of oil / butter around the edges of roti.Within few minutes you will be able to notice thin brown crust along the sides of roti
  • Turn it over to the other side using ladle.Cook on this side also

Now Thinnai Maavu Akki Roti is ready.Serve it hot

Note
Wash the base of the kadai alone before making each and every roti otherwise the kadi will be very hot to handle
