Simple Toor Dhal Subji

This is a quick dhal with veggies that goes well with Rotis and Jeera Rice


Ingredients
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon stick - a small piece
  • Green chillies - 2 or 3 (finely chopped)
  • Garlic pods - 3 or 4 (chop it)
  • Onions - 2 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato - 2 nos (cut into small pieces)
  • Capsicum - 1 medium sized (diced into cubes)
  • Potato - 1 (cut into cubes)
  • Carrot - 2 (cut into small pieces)
  • Toor dhal - 1 cup
  • Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Water - to immerse the contents
  • Turmeric - little
  • Lemon - 1 (optional)
  • Coriander leaves - little
Method
  • Heat oil in a kadai.Splutter jeera and saute bay leaf, cloves and cinnamon stick
  • Fry green chillies and garlic pods
  • Saute onions with a pinch of salt
  • Also saute tomatoes with a pinch of salt
  • Add capsicum pieces and saute it
  • Put chopped potatoes and carrots.Swirl it once
  • Transfer to a vessel that fits into pressure cooker.Add salt, haldi and pour water
  • Pressure cook for 3 whistles
  • Once done garnish with coriander leaves.Squeeze lemon if neede
Once done serve it with Rotis , Jeera Rice and Plain Parathas
