This is a simple and a tangy recipe.It can be mixed with hot rice or served as a side dish for idly, dosa and pongal.It goes well with Curd Rice too

- Oil - 2 teaspoons
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Methi seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - little
- Green chillies - 2 or 3 finely chopped
- Onion - 1 finely chopped
- Mango - 2 medium sized (chopped into cubes)
- Toor dhal - 1/4 cup
- Hing - little
- Turmeric - a pinch
- Water - to immerse the contents
- Salt - 3/4 teaspoon
- Coconut pieces - 1/2 cup (grind it into a smooth paste)
Step 1 - Seasoning and saute
- Heat oil in a kadai / pressure pan.Season with the items mentioned "Part 1"
- Saute onions and green chillies with a pinch of salt
- Put raw mango pieces and swirl it once
Step 2 - Pressure cooking
- Transfer this into a vessel that can be accommodated in pressure cooker
- Pour water to immerse the contents.Add salt, turmeric and hing.Mix well
- Pressure cook for 3 whistles
Step 3 - Mango Dhal
- Transfer the cooked mango and dhal to a kadai.Add coconut paste.Just boil it once
Now Mango Dhal is ready.It goes well with Arisi Upma too
