Coconut Burfi / Nariyal Ki Barfi / Thengai Burfi

This is a simple burfi which does not involve any sugar string consistency.So if you want to start learning burfis you can start with this

  • Grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 1 teaspoon
  • Cardamom - a pinch

  • Take coconut and sugar in a wide pan
  • Start stir it in medium flame.Just sprinkle a spoon of water
  • The sugar will dissolve and it will start merging with coconut
  • Keep stirring it after sometime the colour will slightly change
  • Within few minutes the entire mass will come together and starts leaving the sides of the kadai
  • Add ghee and elachi powder now.Stir it
  • Within 2 minutes it will start getting porous and completely leavees the kadai sides
  • Switch off the stove

  • Transfer it into a greased burfi tray
  • Once it becomes warm cut into desired shapes
