Oil Free Baigan Bartha


Big Brinjal - 1
Curry Powder (or) Sambar Powder (or) Garam Masala Powder - 1 Teaspoon
Chilli Powder - 1/2 or 1 Teaspoon
Salt - 1 Teaspoon
Chopped Corrainder Leaves - 2 Tablespoons


  • Remove the stem (green portion) of the Brinjal
  • Cut the Brinjal into 2 or 3 pieces and Pressure cook for 2 whistles
  • After releasing it.Wash the Brinjal under cold water (running tap water)
  • Peel the skin of the Brinjal and mash it well.If required run it in a mixer.It will be a smooth paste
  • Add Curry Powder and Chilly Powder to it and mix well.Cook it in a low flame.
  • Add salt and mix well
  • Finally Garnish with coriander leaves
  • It goes well with Plain rice, Dosa and Roti
