Kothamalli Chutney / Thogayal

The previous version Kothamalli Thogayal includes onions, tomatoes and garlic.Here its just with "Coriander / Kothamalli leaves"

  • Coriander leaves - 1 bunch
  • Urad dhal - 3 tablespoons
  • Red chillies - 3 or 4 nos
  • Tamarind - small marble sized
  • Oil - 2 teaspoons
  • Salt - 3/4 teaspoon
  • In a kadai heat oil.Fry dried red chillies and urad dhal in it until the dhal turns reddish brown
  • Switch off the stove and add tamarind.Saute it once.Allow the contents to cool
  • Meanwhile wash roughly chopped coriander leaves and drain it under a colander
  • Take the fried items in a mixer and grind it (do not add water)
  • Put chopped coriander leaves and salt to the mixer.Grind it once more thoroughly.No need to add water
Once done take it out and serve along with Idly and Dosas
