Brown Basmati Rice Peas Pulav

I made it for lunch last sunday and here is the recipe

Ingredients
Part 1 - Soaking
  • Brown Basmati Rice - 2 cups
  • Water - 4 cups
Wash and soak brown basmati rice in 4 cups of water

Part 2 - Seasoning and Saute
  • Refined sunflower oil + Ghee - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin seeds / jeera - 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Cinnamon stick - small piece
  • Cardamom/elachi - 2 nos (slit opened)
  • Cloves - 2 nos
  • Onions - 2 (cut it lengthwise)
  • Tomato -2 (chop into cubes)
  • Green Chilly - 6 nos 
  • Fresh / Frozen Peas - 1 cup
Part 3 - Others
  • Salt - 2 teaspoons
  • Coriander leaves - little for garnishing
Method
Step 1 - Seasoning and Saute
  • Heat oil  / ghee in a vessel..Splutter jeera seeds Add cinnamon stick, cardamom and cloves in a simmer flame
  • Put green chillies and saute it once
  • Put onions and fry it with pinch of salt
  • Add chopped tomatoes and saute well with a pinch of salt 
  • Add peas and swirl it once
  • Keep it closed for sometime
Step 3 - Peas Pulav
  • Drain the soaked basmati rice
  • Pour this drained water to the semi cooked peas.Add salt and coriander leaves
  • Allow it to boil
  • Transfer it to a pressure pan and add soaked rice in it

  • Pressure cook for 2 whisltes and keep it simmer flame for 10 minutes
  • Now Brown Basmati Rice Peas Pulav is ready.Serve it hot with any Gravy and Onion Raitha
