Deep Fried Gulab Jamuns

The previous post shows how we can make Shallow Fried Gulab Jamuns.Now lets see how can we make regular gulab jamuns


Ingredients
Part 1 - Jamun
  • Gulab Jamun Dough - as needed
  • Oil + ghee - deep frying

Part 2 - Gulab / Sugar Syrup 
  • Sugar - 2 cups
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Elachi - 2 nos
  • Saffron strands - 3 or 4
  • Dry fruits - as needed
Method
Step 1 - Jamun Balls
  • Pinch small sized balls from dough
  • Knead each and every ball smooth without any cracks.Prick with tooth pick in 3 or 4 places.This ensures that sugar syrup will go inside
  • Deep fry the balls in heated oil + ghee till golden brown

Step 2 - Gulab / Sugar Syrup
  • Take sugar in a deep bottomed vessel.Pour water in it mix well
  • Add saffron strands and start heating it in a medium flame
  • Sugar will dissolve and you will notice bubbles.Now switch off the stove
  • Add chopped dry fruits and cardamom pods to the clear sugar syrup

Step 3 - Gulab Jamuns
  • Allow the deep fried balls to come to room temperature
  • Carefully put it inside sugar syrup and keep it closed for 3 - 4 hours

Now yummy gulab jamuns re ready to serve
