- Raw mango - 1
- Toor dhall - 1 cup
- Turmeric - a pinch
- Oil - little
- Water - 2 1/2 cups
Seasoning
- Oil - 2 teaspoons
- Mustard - 1 teaspoon
- Urad dhall - 1/2 teaspoon
- Methi seeds - 3/4 teaspoons
- Hing - little
- Curry leaves - little
- Green chillies - 4 (slited)
- Red Chillies - 2
Others
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Jaggery - little (optional)
Method
- Cut mango into small cubes and pressure cook along with the other mentioned items for 4 whistles
- In a kadai heat oil and temper the given items
- Add cooked toor dhall and mango to it with little water.
- Add salt and give it a boil.
- Add jaggery towards the end.Jaggery will take off the sourness from the mango
- Garnish with coriander leaves
- Mamidu Pappu is ready.Mix with hot rice and serve
Variations
- Can also saute 2 pods of garlic and 1 chopped onions and then add cooked toor dhall and mango
- Can add sugar instead of jaggery which will take away the sourness
