Kasuri Methi Layered Parota

Learnt it from Jaya TV

I have never tried Parota because the process is very tedious Now I should say big thanks to Ms.Revathi Shanmugam who demonstrated a simplified method
I modified the recipe here and there

Ingredients
  • Wheat - 1 cup
  • Kasuri Methi - 1 tablespoon
  • Chilly Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - as required
  • Water - as required
  • Whaet flour - little for dusting
  • Butter - little (I used Trans Fat free butter)
Method
  • Mix all the dry ingredients together first
  • Add water little by little and make a soft dough
Rolling
  • Make small balls from the dough
  • Take a small ball and flatten it
  • Spread little butter over it and sprinkle little wheat flour
  • Fold it alternatively like saree pleats
  • Encircle it (like hair bun)
Making Parotas
  • Now flatten it once more
  • Heat a Tava and put the parota in it
  • Cook well on both the sides. No need to add oil
Yummy Parotas are ready.Serve it with any side dish of your choice

Note
In Original version
  • Addition of 2 tablespoons of ghee while kneading the dough
  • Does not include chilly powder while kneading
  • Uses maida flour for dusting
  • Ghee / Oil is spread over the flattened dough I used butter here
