Kara karapana Pudina Chutney / Crunchy Mint Chutney

Very simple and yummy side dish for idly/ dosa and also serves as sandwich spread.I had leftover mint leaves after preparing biriyani so made chutney for Idly the following day


Ingredients
  • Mint leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Urad dhall - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion - very little
  • Green chilly - 1
  • Roasted gram / Potukadalai - 2 tablespoons
  • Coconut pieces - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - little while grinding
  • Lemon juice - 3 drops

Method
  • Heat oil in a small pan / kadai.Splutter mustard seeds and roast urad dhall
  • Fry green chilly and saute onions till it becomes golden brown
  • Switch off the stove and put mint leaves.Swirl it once but the leaves will shrink doesn't matter
  • Cool it add potukadalai and coconut pieces 

  • Take it in a mixer.Grind it with a little water and salt to a caorse paste
  • Take it out and add lemon juice.Mix well
Easy to do pudina chutney is ready.Serve it Idly, Dosai so also with curd rice
