Zero Oil Methi Chole / Channa - No Onion No Garlic

I posted Oil Free Methi Rajma but there I used onions and garlic as well.But you can compare both the versions and use the recipes vice versa
You can add butter while serving it to kids

Ingredients:
Part - 1: Pressure Cooker
  • White Channa - 1 cup
  • Bay Leaf - 1
  • Turmeric Power - 1 pinch

Part 2 - Items to grind
  • Tomato - 5 (finely chop it)
  • Ginger - a small piece
  • Cumin Seeds / jeera - 1 teaspoon
  • Green Chillies - 3 nos
  • Cinnamon Stick - a small piece
  • Elachi / Cardamom - 3 nos
  • Cooked Channa - 1 fistful

Part 3 - Masala Powders
  • Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Channa Masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Kashmiri Chilly Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoons
Part 4 - Methi
  • Methi leaves - 2 small bunches

Part 5 - Topping
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
Method
Step 1 - Soaking and Cooking Channa
  • Wash and soak channa over night
  • Add water just an inch above Channa
  • Add Turmeric powder, Bay Leaf  
  • Cook for 5 whistles.Discard the bay leaf after cooking
  • Filter the cooked channa.Do not discard the cooked water

Part 2 - Grinding 
  • Grind tomatoes, green chilly,ginger, jeera, cinnamon stick, cardamom and boiled channa without adding water
  • In a kadai saute chopped methi leaves for 2 minutes.Cool and grind it.Keep it ready

Step 3 - Methi Chole
  • Transfer the ground tomato paste in a kadai.Put the masala powders given under "Part 3"
  • Pour the water used for cooking channa.Boil till the raw smell goes
  • Now add the cooked channa.Stir it well
  • Put the methi paste and mix well
  • Boil for about 2 minutes
  • You may add jaggery if needed.I didn't 
  • Switch off the stove and squeeze lemon juice evenly
  • Hot Methi Chole is ready.It goes well with Phulkas/ Paratha
