Oats Payasam / Kheer

Yet another simple payasam / kheer that can be made within 10 minutes

Ingredients
  • Milk - 1/2 L
  • Oats - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Saffron threads - few (optional)
  • Elachi powder - a pinch (optional)
  • Cashews and dry grapes - 1 tablespoon 
  • Ghee - 1 tablespoon
Method
  • Boil milk.Switch off the stove and put saffron threads and a pinch of elachi powderin it.Leave it covered for 10 minutes
  • Dry fry the oats and powder it in a mixer
  • In the same kadai fry cashews and dry grapes in ghee.Keep it aside
  • Pour the boiled milk in another vessel and add oats powder to it.Mix well
  • Add sugar and switch on the stove
  • Keep stirring it for 5 minutes in a simmer flame.This timing is enough as oats thickens very quickly
  • Garnish it with fried cashews and dry grapes and turn off the stove
Serve it warm
