Usual pesarattu recipe only but with the incorporation of oats and barley.I have tagged under Weight Watchers as well as Kids because it is highly nutritious and can be modified accordingly.When giving it to Kids spread butter over it
Ingredients
Part 1 - Dry Powder
Powder these items together and keep it aside
Part 2 - Items for soaking
Soak the above items together for 2 hours
Part 3 - Vegetables
Part 1 - Dry Powder
- Oats - 11/2 cups
- Barley - 1/2 cups
Powder these items together and keep it aside
- Moong Dhal - 2 cups
- Red chillies - 5 nos
- Ginger - 1 small piece
- Jeera seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Small onions - 6 nos (finely chopped)
- Grated carrot - 1 small size
- Grated Capsicum - 1 cup
- Curry leaves - few
- Coriander leaves - little
Salt - 2 teaspoons or as required
Method
Step 1 - Grinding
- Filter the soaked items.Do not discard the water
- Now take these items in a mixer and grind it to a coarse paste by adding water (drained from soaked dhals) now and then
Step 2 - Mixing
- Add the powdered oats and barley.Mix well
- Add the chopped and grated vegetables.Put salt and mix well
- If the batter is too thick you can add little water to it
Step 3 - Making Pesarattu
- Heat a tawa.Pour a laddle of batter on the tawa and spread it in a circular motion.Make hole in the center.Add 1/2 teaspoon of oil around the pesarattu
- After 2-3 minutes you will notice brown crust
- Now carefully flip it on to the other side and allow it to cook
- Once done take it out and serve hot with any chutney / Aviyal
