This is a common breakfast in most of the house holds throughout India.Here is the simple recipe for the same

- Bombay rava / sooji - 2 cups
Part 2 - Seasoning and Saute
- Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Channa dhal - 1/2 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - 2
- Green chilly - 4 (slited)
- Onion - 1 (thinly sliced)
Part 3 - Vegetables
- Potato - 1 (chop into cubes)
- Carrot - 1 medium sized (chop into cubes)
- Peas - 1/4 cup
- Water - 3 cups
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Coriander leaves - little
Method

- Dry roast rava in a thick bottomed kadai till the raw smell goes and keep it aside
Step 2 - Seasoning and saute
- In the same kadai heat oil and splutter mustard seeds.Fry channa dhal , chillies and curry leaves
- Add thinly sliced onions and saute till it turns golden brown
- Now saute the vegetables
- Pour water , put salt and coriander leaves.Allow the vegetables to get cooked 3/4th
- Once the vegetables are 3/4th cooked slowly add the raosted rava by simultaneously stiring it
- Just stir and close the lid.Open the lid every 3 minutes and churn the whole mass
- It will get cooked within 10 minutes
- To test whether it is fully done or not dip your finger with water and touch the upma.It should not stick to your fingers
- Once done take it out and serve with tomato ketchup, sugar, sambar / Coconut Chutney
