Ingredients
Part 1 - Dry Roasting
- Corn Rava - 1 cup
- Oil - 1 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Urad dhall and Channa dhall - 1/2 teaspoon each
- Curry leaves - little
- Ginger - little
- Green chillies - 2 or 3 (finely chopped)
Part 3 - Vegetables (all minced / very finely chopped)
- Onion - 1 no:
- Capsicum -1 no:
- Carrot - 1 or 2 (depending upon the size)
- Potato - 1 no:
- Peas - handful
- Coriander leaves - little
- Water - 1 cup
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
Method
Step 1 - Dry roasting
Step 3 - Sauteing Vegetables
Step 1 - Dry roasting
- Take corn rava in a kadai and dry roast it in a medium flame till the raw smell goes and keep it aside
- In the same kadai heat oil and season with the ingredients mentioned under "Part 2 - Seasoning"
Step 3 - Sauteing Vegetables
- Then add onions and saute till it becomes golden brown
- Also saute capsicum pieces.But make sure it remains crunchy
- Then add carrot, potato and peas.Just swirl it once
Step 4 - Dough Preparation
- Pour water and add salt.Let it boil.Put chopped coriander leaves also while boiling
- When it starts boiling switch off the stove and sprinkle dry roasted corn rava slowly
- Now switch on the stove and give a quick stir so that it forms a thick dough as seen in the picture below.Cool the dough
Step 5 - Pidi Kozhakkatai
- Grease your palm with oil and make small balls out of the dough
- Arrange these balls in a greased idli plate
- Steam it in a idli cooker for 7- 10 minutes in a medium flame and keep it in simmer flame for 5 minutes.Switch off the stove.Keep it closed for 10 minutes and then open it
Corn Rava Vegetable Pidi Kozhakattai is ready.Serve with any chutney of your choice
