Tomato Mint and Coriander Chutney / Tomato Pudina and Kothamalli Chutney

This is a simple and delicious chutney recipe that can be prepared within 15 minutes.It goes well with Idly and Dosai


Ingredients
Part 1 - Chutney
  • Oil - 2 teaspoons
  • Urad dhal - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds / jeera = 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green Chilly - 3 nos
  • Tomato - 4 nos
  • Mint - 1 handful
  • Coriander leaves - handful
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon


Part 2 - Seasoning
  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - 2
  • Red chilly - 1
Method 
Step 1 - Saute
  • Heat oil in a kadai and splutter cumin seeds in it
  • Add urad dhal and fry it in a low flame till till becomes golden brown
  • Also saute chillies in it
  • Now add the tomatoes and swirl it once
  • Cook it covered on a medium flame for about 7 minutes
  • You will be able to see the difference.Look at the picture below

Step 2 - Chutney
  • Add mint and coriander leaves.Put salt
  • Swirl it once and switch off the flame
  • Let the contents cool
  • Grind it smoothly without adding water
  • Transfer it into a serving bowl
  • In a separate kadai / ladle heat oil and season with mustard, red chilly and curry leaves
  • Pour the seasonings over the chutney
