Cabbage Carrot Poriyal / Cabbage Carrot Stir Fry

This is a simple mixed poriyal which is very tasty


Ingredients
  • Cabbage - 1 no: (medium sized)
  • Carrot - 1 no: (medium sized)
  • Peas - little (optional)
  • Onions - 1 or 2 
  • Green Chilly - 4 or 5
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Grated Coconut - 2 tablespoons
Method
Step 1 - Preparation
  • Wash the vegetables
  • Cut the cabbage into 4 big chunks and grate them using a grater
  • Chop carrot inyo small pieces
  • Cut onions into small pieces
  • Slit green chillies

Step 2 - Seasoning
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Season with mustard, jeera, curry leaves and green chilly
  • Add onions and saute with a pinch of salt
Step 3 - Curry
  • Add carrot and peasStir it
  • Sprinkle little water.Cover the lid and cook for about 5 minutes till the carrot is 3/4th done
  • Open the lid and add grated cabbage
  • Put salt and mix well
  • Cook it covered for about 7 minutes
  • Once done garnish with grated coconut, switch off the stove and mix well
