Kadamba Sadham (aka) Brinji step by step with pictures

Its an interesting recipe which I learnt it from my friend and changed it according to my taste. You can see the original recipe in this link Tamilian Pulav


Ingredients

Raw Rice - 1 cup

Wash and soak raw rice for about 30 minutes


 Saute

  • Oil - 1 1/2 tablespoons
  • Bayleaf - 1
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Cloves- 3 (good for acidity)
  • Cardamom - 4 (slit open it)
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
  • Green Chilly - 2 or more (slit it)
  • Turmeric - a pinch
Chopped Vegetables:

  • Tomato - 1  or alternatively can use tomato puree use about 2 tablespoons
  • Peas- handful
  • Carrot,Beans,Capsicum - 3/4 cups
Grind

  • Mint leaves - handful
  • Coconut - 1 tablespoon
Grind the above items with little water.It should be a thick paste


Others

  • Water- 2 cups
  • Salt- 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Leaves - Garnish 

Method

1. Heat oil in a kadai and saute the ingredients given under Saute section and add onions and green chillies with turmeric and fry till the onion turns golden brown. (Note the browning of onions in the second picture below)


2.Add chopped tomatoes and fry it for 2 minutes.


3. Now add the grounded paste with little water if necessary.Heat it for 3 minutes.


4.Add the vegetables and leave it for 5 minutes



5. Add water and salt.Bring it to boil (I shot the pic while boiling can you find the bubbles)

6. Now add the soaked and drained rice


7. Now pressure cook for 2 whistles or cook it in an electrical cooker.I made it using electrical cooker.Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves 


8. Serve it with Raitha and chips.
