Kudhiraivaali Arisi / Banyard Millet looks similar to Rice Rawa
- Kudhiraivaali Arisi / Banyard Millet - 3 cups
- Urad dhal - 1 cup
- Methi seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Soak dhal and methi seeds together for 6- 8 hours
- Soak rice for 6-8 hours separately
- Drain the water from soaked dhal and rice.Keep it aside so that you can use for grinding
- In a mixer take soaked dhal and methi seeds.Grind it to a smooth batter using little water (drained from dhal and rice)
- Transfer this batter into a container
- Now put the soaked rice into the mixer and grind it to a smooth batter using ice water as well as the water drained from soaked dhal and rice
- Now pour this batter over the urad dhal batter.Add salt and mix well with your hand
- Allow this batter to ferment overnight or for 8 hours
Making Dosas
- Heat a Dosa Tawa and look out for more tips in this link Preparing Dosa Tawa
- Dilute dosa batter if needed
- Pour on a ladle of batter on to the center of tawa and spread the batter in circular motion using the backside of ladle
- After a minute add 1/2 teaspoon of oil around the edges of dosa
- Wait for a minute and using a dosai thiripi flip on to the other side
- Take it out after a minute
