Steamed Vegetable Ladoos

This recipe is based on Uppu Kozhattai/Amani Kozhakattai recipe which is made out of rice flour.I tried adding some veggies to it and it turned out well.Its my great pleasure to share this healthy and filling snack recipe with you all


Ingredients:
Seasoning:

  • Oil - 2 teaspoons
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Urad Dhall - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Channa Dhall - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves- little
  • Hing - a pinch
  • Chopped Green Chillies - according to the spice required
  • Finely Chopped Onions - 1


Vegetables

  • Grated Carrot - handful
  • Finely Chopped Beans - handful
  • Finely Chopped Capsicum - handful

Can also add any other veggies of your choice.It should be grated or finely chopped according to the veggie type

Others

  • Water - 2 cups
  • Grated Coconut - 3 tablespoons
  • Rice Flour - 1 cup
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon

Method

1. In a pan heat oil and season with mustard,dhals,hing and curry leaves.Add chillies and onions.Fry till the onions are translucent
2. Add the vegetables and sprinkle little water and fry for sometime (about 3 minutes)


3. Now pour water and add salt.Allow it to boil.Also add the coconut scrapings in the boiling water.At this stage mix rice flour little by little.Make sure no lumps are formed


4. Keep stirring it without any lumps.Allow the dough to cool and make balls or ladoos with your hands


5. Steam it in a Pressure Cooker or Idly Cooker for 10 minutes.Switch off the stove and do not open the lid for 5 minutes

Serve it with sauce, chutney, thogayal....
