Drumstick Soup

I adapted this recipe from Revathi Shanmugam who taught this in a TV show.I followed her instructions step by step with slight modifications here and there.The result was marvelous
It is a great appetizer in this rainy season.


Ingredients

Drumstick - 1 (cut it lengthwise)

Boil the drumstick pieces with little water in a pressure pan for 3 whistles. Allow it to cool.Then take the pulp from it and discard the skin.Grind this pulp in a mixer and keep it aside




Oil - 1 teaspoon
Garlic pods - 5 (finely chopped)
Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
Mint Leaves - 1/4 bunch
Coriander Leaves - 1/4 bunch
Rice - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric Powder - a pinch
Pepper Powder - 1 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon (mix well with water)
Milk or Fresh Cream or Coconut Milk - 1/4 cup

Method:

1. In a vessel heat oil and fry garlic pods.Add onions with pinch of turmeic and fry till translucent
2. Add mint and coriander leaves so also rice pour 1 cup of water.Allow it to boil for 10 minutes.The rice should get cooked


3. Add pepper powder and salt.Let it boil for sometime
4. Now add coriander powder mixed with water and mix well.Boil for 3 minutes
5. Add the drumstick pulp and blend it well with the mixture
6. Add milk and give it a boil
7. Serve it hot.Top with more pepper and also jeera powder if needed
