Raw Mango Chutney / Mangai Chamanthi

This is a simple tangy spicy chutney made out of mango and coconut.Its a good accompaniment for Dosa, Upma and Pongal.It can be mixed with hot plain rice also


Ingredients
  • Raw mango pieces - 1 cup
  • Coconut pieces - 3/4 - 1 cup
  • Jaggery - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Oil - 1/2+1/2 teaspoons
  • Rechillies - 6
  • Hing - 1 pinch
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - little

Method
  • Heat oil in a pan spray hing in it.Fry red chillies till breaking consistency.Cool 
  • Take mango pieces, coconut pieces, jaggery in a mixer jar.Add little water and grind it to a smooth paste

  • Add the fried chillies to it, put salt and grind it once more
  • In the same pan (used for frying chillies) heat remaining 1/2 teaspoon oil and season with mustard and curry leaves.Pour it over the chutney
Mangai Chamanthi is ready.Goes well with Dosas, Idly
